Internet-Based Testing (iBT) TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

For more information about the TOEFL, please refer to www.ets.org/toefl.

About
The TOEFL is a required part of admissions for non-native English speakers at many American colleges. The Admissions Office has a Frequently Asked Questions section for International Students pertaining to TOEFL exam and score requirements.

Test Format
The TOEFL is administered as an Internet-Based Test (iBT). The Computer-Based (CBT) and Paper TOEFL tests are not offered in the Continental United States. The TOEFL Website has updated information about test format and exam preparation.

Registration
Prospective Candidates must register by calling Educational Testing Service (ETS) at 1-800-468-6335 or online at www.ets.org/toefl. The iBT TOEFL is administered on a fixed administration schedule, meaning the TOEFL may only be administered on dates previously assigned by ETS. This administartion schedule identifies dates when the TOEFL is administered at Ohio State and dates that may be available at other Testing Centers.

Test Day
Candidates should fully review ETS's identification requirements for the TOEFL. Note that a passport is required for non-US Citizens. Candidates who are not citizens of the United States who cannot present a valid passport will not be admitted and will forfeit their test fees.

Location and Parking
Candidates should review the Testing Center Location, Direction, and Parking information before test day. It is the candidate's sole responsibility to know where to come and where to park prior to test day. Late candidates will not be admitted and the test fees will be forfeited.

Candidates testing on a home football game day should note increased traffic congestion and limited parking in the campus area. Parking fees will be between $10 and $20. Again, candidates who are late will not be admitted and will forfeit test fees.
